21.TheObjectClause賓語從句(一)
(1)賓語從句在復(fù)合句中作主句的賓語。賓語從句常由that引導(dǎo),在口語中that常被省略。當(dāng)主句中謂語動(dòng)詞是現(xiàn)在或?qū)頃r(shí)態(tài)時(shí),從句中謂語動(dòng)詞不受主句中謂語動(dòng)詞時(shí)態(tài)的影響,按需要可以使用任何時(shí)態(tài)。如:
Shesays(that)sheworksfromMondaytoFriday.
她說她從周一至周五上班。(從句是一般現(xiàn)在時(shí))
Shesays(that)shewillleaveamessageonhisdesk.
她說她要在他的桌子上留個(gè)便條。(從句是一般將來時(shí))
(2)當(dāng)主句的謂語是過去時(shí)態(tài),從句中的時(shí)態(tài)一般用表示過去的某種時(shí)態(tài)。如:
Hesaidtherewerenoclassesyesterdayafternoon.
他說昨天下午他沒有課。(從句是一般過去時(shí))
Hesaid(that)hewasgoingtotakecareofthebaby.
他說他會(huì)去照看這個(gè)嬰兒。(從句是過去將來時(shí))
(3)當(dāng)主句的謂語是過去時(shí)態(tài),而賓語從句敘述的是某一客觀真理(事實(shí))時(shí),賓語從句的時(shí)態(tài)則用一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)。如:
Theteachertoldus(that)nothingisdifficultifyouputyourheartintoit.
老師告訴我們世上無難事,只怕有心人。
Shesaid(that)herfatheristwenty-eightyearsolderthanher.
她說她父親比她大二十八歲。
賓語從句(二)
由連接代詞或連接副詞引導(dǎo)的賓語從句。
引出名詞性從句的連詞whether和if,在引出賓語從句時(shí),用法和意義相同。
但是if只能引出賓語從句和不在句首的主語從句,而whether除了引出賓語從句外,還可引出主語從句、表語從句和同位語從句。如:
Wedon’tknowwhether(if)itisright.我們不知道它是否正確。
Thequestioniswhethersheshoulddothat.
問題在于她是否應(yīng)該做那件事。
Whetheritistrueremainsaquestion.是真是假還是個(gè)問題。
試比較:
當(dāng)if從句處在主句之后作“是否”講時(shí),引出的是賓語從句。如:
Idon’tknowifitistrue.我不知道這事是否真實(shí)。
當(dāng)if從句在主句之前作“如果”講時(shí),則引出狀語從句。如:
IshallgothereifIhavetime.如果我有時(shí)間,我將到那兒去。

下面是使用賓語從句應(yīng)注意的問題:
1.引導(dǎo)詞that的省略。
在非正式場合下,that在引導(dǎo)賓語從句時(shí)可以省略。如:
Ithinks(that)youareright我認(rèn)為你是對的。
Hesaid(that)hewouldcome.他說他會(huì)來。
但在正式場合,特別是表示建議要求的從句,一般不省略。
2.關(guān)于使用形式賓語“it”的問題。
如果賓語從句后面跟有賓語補(bǔ)語,要用形式賓語“it”來代替,而將從句放到補(bǔ)語的后面去。如:
Ihearditsaidthatthisschoolwasfoundedin1906.我聽說這所學(xué)校建于1906年。
3.賓語從句的時(shí)態(tài)呼應(yīng)。
如果主句的謂語是過去時(shí),賓語從句的時(shí)態(tài)要按照時(shí)態(tài)呼應(yīng)規(guī)則進(jìn)行相應(yīng)的調(diào)整。但若賓語從句表示的是客觀真理或自然觀念,其謂語時(shí)態(tài)則仍然用一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)。如:
Shesaidshehadleftherumbrellaintheclassroom.
她說她把傘忘在教室里了。
TheteachertoldusthatthePacificOceanisthelargestoceanintheworld.
老師告訴我們太平洋是世界上最大的海洋。
4.賓語從句否定意義的轉(zhuǎn)移。
在think,believe,suppose等動(dòng)詞所引導(dǎo)的賓語中,如果從句謂語是否定的,一般要將否定詞not轉(zhuǎn)移至主句的謂語動(dòng)詞上去,而將從句的謂語動(dòng)詞改為肯定形式。如:
Idon’tthinkhehastimetoplaywithyou.我認(rèn)為他沒時(shí)間和你玩。
5.插入語疑問句。
當(dāng)我們要對賓語從句的有關(guān)信息進(jìn)行提問時(shí),通常要用“插入語疑問句”。該結(jié)構(gòu)以與所詢問的信息有關(guān)的疑問詞開頭,主句的主謂成分變成插入語。如:
Ithinkthattheyhavecleanedtheclassroom.我想他們已打掃教室了。
Whatdoyouthinktheyhavedone?你認(rèn)為他們做了什么?
6.賓語從句的替代。
在hope,believe,imagine,suppose,guess,think等動(dòng)詞以及“I’mafraid”等表達(dá)法的后面,可用so代替一個(gè)賓語從句,該賓語從句通常是上文提到的一件事。如:
Doyouthinkwewillhavegoodweather?你認(rèn)為我們會(huì)遇上好天氣嗎?
Ihopeso.我希望如此。
其否定形式可用上述動(dòng)詞的否定式(hope除外),或者用“not”代替“so”。如:
Idon’tbelieveso.(或Ibelievenot.)我認(rèn)為不是這樣。
