本單元主要話題是“科學家如何以探索、鉆研、無畏的科研精神驗證未知的科學真理?!?/p>
“熱身”(WarmingUp)部分通過問答使學生回想起不同領域的科學家,了解科學家對人類的貢獻及其成果。
“讀前”(Pre-reading)通過若干問題及討論,使學生初步了解得出科學觀點所需的過程。為完成閱讀奠定基礎。
“閱讀”(Reading)部分通過介紹英國著名醫(yī)生JohnSnow是如何通過考察、分析、探究的科學方法,發(fā)現(xiàn)并控制“霍亂”這種傳染病的。通過閱讀課文,使學生感悟科學家的周密觀察、勇于探索、認真分析的科學精神,使學生了解科學發(fā)現(xiàn)的全過程具有其科學的嚴密性。
“理解”(Comprehending)部分的第一部分讓學生完成表格以達到對文章的初步理解。并且通過提問聯(lián)系實際給學生自助、自悟機會,培養(yǎng)學生的發(fā)散思維和綜合運用語言的能力。第二部分挖掘文章細節(jié),使學生重溫文章內容,第三部分讓學生選擇重點段落朗讀,以流利的朗讀表達文中的意思。
“語言學習”(LearningaboutLanguage)部分主要突出本單元的重點詞匯和主要語法項目的訓練與練習,使學生對本課重點詞匯與語法項目做到學以致用。
“語言運用”(UsingLanguage)部分涵蓋了聽、說、讀、寫幾個部分。聽的部分通過兩個學生談論科學家錢學森的故事,使學生了解科學家的生活經歷,并通過回答問題訓練學生的分析、解決問題能力。
說的部分通過分組討論將來選擇什么科學工作,需要什么樣的教育、品格及經歷來完成提問和應答的交際功能訓練,也實施了對學生的德育教育。
讀的部分講述了哥白尼是如何發(fā)現(xiàn)太陽中心學說的,并通過1、2小題幫助學生理解文章主旨大意,學會尋求解決問題方法同時提高闡明自己觀點的能力。
寫的部分是要求學生根據(jù)閱讀文章內容及提示給哥白尼寫一封信,建議他盡早公布他的發(fā)現(xiàn),以此來培養(yǎng)學生的收集信息、整理信息及傳遞信息的能力,體現(xiàn)了自做、自助和自悟的教學思想,改進學生的學習策略。
“小結”(SummingUp)部分通過讓學生回憶本單元所學內容,總結對其掌握的程度,培養(yǎng)學生的概括總結能力。
“學習建議”(LearningTip)部分建議學生如何寫好“persuasivewriting”,以訓練學生的邏輯思維及寫作能力。
第一課時聽說課(一)
將WarmingUp部分與Workbook(WB)中的Listening和Talking放在同一課時,設計成一節(jié)聽說課(以說為主)??蓪B中的SpeakingTask和Project相結合,設計成本單元的開放性作業(yè)。
第二課時閱讀課
將Pre-reading,Reading,Comprehending部分放在同一課時教學,設計成一節(jié)閱讀課。
第三課時語言學習(一)詞匯學習
將LearningaboutLanguage中的Discoveringusefulwordsandexpressions及WB中的Usingwordsandexpressions整合成一節(jié)詞法學習、應用課。
第四課時語言學習(二)過去分詞作定語和表語
將LearningaboutLanguage中的Discoveringusefulstructures及WB中的UsingStructures放在一起教學,上一節(jié)語法課。
第五課時聽說課(二)
將UsingLanguage中的Listening,Speaking和WB中的ListeningTask放在同一節(jié)課中處理為一節(jié)聽說課(以聽為主)。
第六課時泛讀課
將UsingLanguage中的ReadingandWriting和WB中的Readingtask上成一節(jié)泛讀課。也可視時間需要把WB中的ReadingTask部分的閱讀文章布置為課外閱讀作業(yè)。
第七課時寫作復習課
