1.教材分析
本單元以“西進(jìn)運(yùn)動(dòng)”為話題,旨在通過單元教學(xué),使學(xué)生了解美國的西進(jìn)運(yùn)動(dòng)及其所代表的美國人勇于開拓、不畏艱辛的西部精神。并能正確運(yùn)用表示“不屈不撓”及“成功”類的交際用語,學(xué)習(xí)相關(guān)語法,同時(shí)擴(kuò)大知識視野。文章通過介紹西方的文化歷史,激發(fā)學(xué)生主動(dòng)參與、主動(dòng)探究的求知欲。
1.1WARMINGUP是一份自測的問卷。通過自我打分,了解自我評估結(jié)果,引出本單元主要談?wù)摰脑掝}—perseveranceandsuccess,為下一步聽、說、讀、寫打下基礎(chǔ)。
1.2LISTENING部分提供一種情景——荒島求生,其練習(xí)的設(shè)計(jì)體現(xiàn)了聽力過程中對要點(diǎn)與細(xì)節(jié)的理解。通過聽前回答問題,幫助學(xué)生提高分析總結(jié)聽力內(nèi)容的能力。

1.4PRE-READING是READING的熱身活動(dòng)。要求學(xué)生采用討論交流的方式,了解美國的歷史,激發(fā)他們對閱讀主題文章的欲望。
1.5READING一文采用敘事的寫作手法,介紹了作者一家遷移過程中所遭受的種種艱辛,進(jìn)而闡明要想成功就需要“不屈不撓”的精神。主題鮮明,容易引起學(xué)生的閱讀興趣和共鳴。

1.8INTEGRATINGSKILLS中的Reading和Writing是一個(gè)整體訓(xùn)練材料。Reading是關(guān)于安克雷奇·諾姆狗拉雪橇的由來,從而延伸了主課文的中心。Writing要求根據(jù)圖片重寫這篇文章,使學(xué)生再度加深對文章內(nèi)容的理解,鍛煉學(xué)生捕捉信息的能力,并提高寫作能力。
